#BlogchatterA2Z challenge and NaPoWriMo-2022

“The poet is a liar who always speaks the truth.”
~Jean Cocteau
Those who have known me for a long time and have placed orders for personalised poetries as gifts (yes, I do it for a living, check here!), know for sure how much I am into acrostic poems. Well, an acrostic poem is one where combining the first letter of each line spells a word as you go down the poem. This time around, a variation of the acrostic poems given as a prompt for the NaPoWriMo challenge had my attention. The challenge is to write a poem that reproduces a phrase with the first words of each line. So what I did is that I clubbed the original version and variation of the acrostic poem to pen this, where the first letters down the poem would read KALA and the first words down the poem will read “Keeping alone, laughing aloud”.
Interestingly, I must say that in this series of Intuitive Poetries that I am penning as part of the #BlogchatterA2Z challenge and NaPoWriMo, this particular character, Kala, has turned out to be more mystical than any other character. With every other heteronym character, at least halfway through the poem, I would get a clear picture of what exact emotion is being carried and what are their particular characteristics. But with Kala, a poem in just four lines, she evokes mysticism. I don’t know if she is happy, at peace, desperate, lonely, revengeful, plainly sarcastic or something totally different. I hope she unveils herself more in the future.
For now, introducing Kala through this:

KALA
Keeping myself away from your sight
Alone, in the eerie silence of the darkest night
Laughing at a joke you cracked, back some years
Aloud I hear the echoing sky; a cosmic joke thunders
What do you think or know about Kala? Does she speak to you? Do you get the emotion she evokes? I definitely don’t, as of now. So if you do, then let me know in the comments!

Kala to me is a very intense and introvert person. She definitely has mastered the art (that is kala) of hiding her emotions only to find them reflected or mocked may be by the surroundings.
Kudos to your craftsmanship… just 4 lines and they speak volumes!
Your interpretation of Anagha makes sense to me…that feels right… maybe she is intense & introverted. Thank you for your appreciation, Anagha. Means a lot to me 🙂
How well put
Thank you, Manali 🙂
Kala to me is darkness. And since things remain unseen in the dark, so are the feelings of Kala.
That’s an interesting take, Sonia. Let’s see how Sonia chooses to unveil herself. Thank you for stopping by 🙂
It looks like a puzzle to me. Kala here talks about her flow of thoughts hidden inside deep dark areas of her remembrance.
I tried to solve it in reverse way. I mean, I read from bottom to top. It show a relationship, dwindling gradually! Oops. Sorry if it is not what you intended. Remember the saying – படிச்சவன் பாட்டக்கெடுத்து. எழுதினவன் ஏட்டைக்கெடுத்து!! 🙂
Kala is definitely a puzzle. But I loved the way you have unlocked the enigma by having a different perspective, literally, reading from the bottom. It makes a lot more sense that way. Thank you for this interesting take on the poem, Pandian ji 🙂
